Happy Fourth of July

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I look forward to it every year. I love the summer, so celebrating in the warm weather is great. I always have to find a huge fireworks display. I grew up in an area rich in Revolutionary War and Civil War history. I think this holiday is just very nostalgic for me. I am one of those sappy people that really does have a patriotic pride on this day, and I want to do it up big. Well, as we were watching fireworks last night with some friends, I was having different thoughts. As the sky would light up, our friend would joke about the wonderful things to be thankful for this year-cap and trade, economy, more abortion rights, universal health care, ever growing national debt, our President's desire to build relationships with people like Hugo Chavez, etc. I think for the first time ever, this holiday is depressing to me. My family will spend today celebrating at a cookout with our church. But, I know my heart will be in prayer for our nation. I was hoping to visit the Tea Party in Lancaster today, but it does not look like it will work out. Please let me encourage you to pray for the state of our Union today, and if at all possible show your support at a Tea Party in your area.
